Transition Instructions
When switching your pet’s diet, we recommend transitioning from the current diet to any new Natural Balance Formula over a 5 – 7 day period.
Day 1 – 2: 25% Natural Balance Formula, 75% Current Pet Formula
Day 3 – 4: 50% Natural Balance Formula, 50% Current Pet Formula
Day 5 – 6: 75% Natural Balance Formula, 25% Current Pet Formula
Day 7: 100% Natural Balance Formula
If you do not have any of your current formula to mix, reduce the amount of formula fed for the first few days, feeding smaller more frequent meals over time. If your pet is more sensitive to change, please allow 10 – 14 days to fully transition onto the new formula.
FAQ
How can I limit the ingredients my pet is exposed to?
Feeding formulas with limited ingredients is a great way to minimize their exposure to ingredients. Limited ingredient formulas have a restricted number of protein and carbohydrate sources.
How should I go about trying a limited ingredient diet for my pet?
Food trials on a limited ingredient diet should take place over at least 12 weeks using a novel protein and carbohydrate source that the pet has not had before. No other treats or food items should be fed during these first twelve weeks.
How else can I limit my petโs exposure to certain ingredients?
Pets that can benefit from a limited ingredient diet should not have unsupervised access to human foods, garbage, or outdoor areas where they can ingest plants.
